Dental Nurse Training

Dental nurses are a vital part of our practice and we have been training new employees to achieve dental nursing qualifications for over 35 years. During that time many of our staff have taken opportunities to develop their carreers with additional qualifications and several have progressed to university to become Dental Therapists. All of the registered dental nurses at the Practice have trained with us.

 Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship

This is your opportunity to develop your skills in a hands-on role, gaining a nationally-recognised qualification. As one of our apprentice dental nurses, you will provide chair-side support to our dentists, therapists and hygienist. You will also work in other areas of the practice including reception where you deal with patient enquiries, answer the telephone and book appointments.

If you’re over the age of 16, eligible to work in the UK and not currently in full time education you will be able to join our Dental Nurse Apprenticeship.

The apprenticeship operates in conjunction with Preston College and normally lasts between 18 and 24 months. It is fully funded and has three main components:

  • A Diploma in Dental Nursing Level 3

  • Functional Skills English & Maths Level 2 qualifications (unless you’re exempt, e.g. you already have Maths and English GCSEs at grade A-C)

  • An End Point Assessment – this consists of an in-practice observation and an interview

The qualification is accredited by City & Guilds and is delivered by Preston College within the Practice, at their campus and online

When you have qualified you can apply to register as a Dental Nurse with the General Dental Council
