Dentures

Dentures, also known as false teeth, are removable and may replace all the teeth in one or both jaws, or fit false teeth around the natural teeth.

Complete dentures are made of a gum coloured plastic base with artificial teeth positioned so they restore the smile and jaw position, filling out the face and restoring the bite.

A set of dentures requires several visits to one of our Clinical Dental Technicians, members of our team who work exclusively with dentures.

Some patients will find it difficult to keep their dentures in place, in which case implants can be an excellent option to hold them in place to improve comfort and eating.

Partial dentures can be used to replace one or more tooth and can be anchored to natural teeth with metal clasps, although it may be necessary to modify the shape of the natural teeth to ensure the denture fits comfortably. The denture is made from pink plastic, metal, or a combination of the two. The advantage of using metal is the base may be smaller and thinner as it is stronger than plastic, and therefore more comfortable to wear and eat with.

If a tooth has to be taken out you may wish to have a denture made immediately to fill the gap.
